Dr Pepper; Kicking The Habit Day 2
Well to start off, I must say that today was a much easier day. Did I want a Dr. Pepper? Yes! But I wasn't craving one like I did yesterday. So anyway, I made it through the day without having one; I consider today a small victory.
Psalm 20: 4-5 "May He give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed. We will shout for joy when you are victorious".
I am not sure at this point when I can claim victory, if I ever will, but at this point I am just taking it a day at a time. I sound like someone that is attending an AA meeting. lol But on the other hand I guess it is sort of an addiction or possibly just a bad habit, I am not sure which one. I can tell you this though, for me at least, this isn't easy. I don't like water or diet soda's. I don't like the artificial sweeteners. I don't care very much for the Crystal Lite flavoring you can put in bottled water. There just isn't much around I care to drink other than Dr. Pepper.
I know you all think I am over dramatizing this whole thing, but kicking a bad habit isn't easy. Just ask someone who has quit smoking or has lost a lot of weight. Most of them had tried several times and failed before they actually succeeded. Now I'm not comparing trying to quit drinking Dr. Pepper to someone who has tried to quit smoking. But I can tell you this, anyone who has quit smoking, lost a lot of weight, gotten off drugs or has overcome alcoholism has been through a rough time and should be very proud of themselves for overcoming their addictions. And I am sure they all had their failures as well as their victories.
Trying to kick my little bad habit doesn't compare to what these people had to go through, but for me, this is difficult.

Dr Pepper; Kicking The Habit Day 1
Well it was a rough day to tell you the truth. This morning wasn't bad, but by mid-morning I was under some stress and was really craving a drink. I didn't give in, although it was close. :) The rest of the day didn't get any better. I had cheeseburger soup for lunch and there is just somethings I really enjoy a Dr. Pepper with and soup is one of them. I really missed having one then. Chili and fried chicken are other things I really enjoy Dr. Pepper with. It is the combination of the two that really makes them so good. I guess that really sounds stupid, but what can I say.
The weak moments in our lives that we over come and don't give into will make us stronger in the long run. I didn't give in today and hopefully tomorrow will be a better day. I did have a cup of hot chocolate that probably saved me at my weakest time this morning; so thank God for hot chocolate.
By the way, it is my granddaughter's third birthday today.

Happy Birthday Brynlee.

Kicking The Dr. Pepper Habit
So today is an important day, I am going to kick the Dr. Pepper habit starting tomorrow. Now some of you may think, "so what's the big deal?". Well, I have been trying for a long time and can't seem to get past day four. I go through the headaches and shakes coming off the caffeine and then I get one more Dr. Pepper to just get past it and I am hooked again.
I have literally been trying for years, but this time I am going to do it. I AM DETERMINED! I didn't weigh in tonight at my Weight Watchers meeting because I had had four Dr. Peppers today, and I knew if I weighed in it wasn't going to be pretty. The leader of our pack asked me why I didn't want to weigh in? I told her and she said the only way to quit is to go cold turkey.
So now I am going to go get my last one and enjoy it immensely. Wish me luck!
